After Illness back to the gym

Options
Just curious how long after being ill should you go back to the gym.

My partner is due to go back to work after nearly fortnight off due to a virus that has knocked him for six. Had to have antibiotics. He is due to run an half marathon early april as well!!!

I have been ill but not to the same extent. I had glands on one side of my face swell up. And now I am coughing.

Neither are us are keen to be out for much longer. But due to lack of appetite we have both lost weight with out trying. Tonight is the first time we have had a proper meal.

Thanks in advance

Yours

  • I think you know in yourself when you are feeling okay to go back to the gym. Sounds like he has been really ill though so I would say definitely wait a few more days until both of your eating is right. Can't go to the gym if you don't have the energy from your diet to fuel your workout.

Good luck to your partner for his half marathon in April. I ran one on Sunday and it was tough! Hope it goes well and hope you both feel better soon. :)

    Thanks.

I was thinking towards the end of the week before we go back to light gym work. Just get back in the swing of things.

I am so proud of my partner as year ago he could not run and then he started couch to 5k. He is doing really well. He knows that will not be able to run all the way around. But him and some mates thought it was good idea to do half marathon.

Definitely a good distance to do, great sense of achievement when you finish the race. It is definitely a long way to cover using just your legs! Wish him all the best :)
