Question re NI and State Pension

My state pension forecast shows that I have 41 full qualifying years....which I didn't realise I had, but that my pension will only be £152. It says to qualify for the full £159 I need to pay £741 before 2023.
I am currently 60 and work only 6 days a month, so not earning enough to pay NI. So as it currently stands my NI contributions won't increase to help my pension.
I have been offered a job self employed, but it will only be about £65 a week and even added to my employed job, will not earn enough to pay NI.
If I go self employed can I pay the NI voluntarily and will it contribute to my pension? Or will I still need to pay the £741...?
Very confused

If you use the online checker at https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension it gives you a forecast and also tells you how to increase it if you can.0

You do not necessarily have to pay NI to be credited with contributions. How much do you earn per year from this job ?
What does 2016-17 show ?
Have you been fully employed in this tax year at all ?
£741 is only one year so will not get you to £159.55, you will need 2 for that.
If self employed you should have the option of class 2 voluntary contributions and at under £150 for a full year is excellent value.0 -

2016/17 I was only earning same as I do now in my employed job, which was under the threshold for paying NI.. Job is only 6 days a month.
If I take the self employed job to run along side my current job that would be great if it tops up my pension. But can I definitely still pay class 2? I read somewhere that class 2 was being done away with. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Thanks for that. So when it says class 2 will cease in Apr 2019....., that means as you pay a year in arrears when you are self employed, I can pay class 2 for 2 more years basically...this year I will be paying for 2017/18 & next year I will pay for 18/19? Think I have brain fog today... LolThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
