The emergency was finally stood down late on Friday afternoon, so he could finally come home. Yes, @ladyholly, he will get the time back in lieu & the extra mileage will be paid.
@CRANKY40 Soot is also a very vocal cat & while he is generally quite placid, he does sometimes do the most indignant face.....something we're seeing a lot atm because he can't believe that very small portions of cat biscuits are even 'a thing'.

Hello money savers,
Successful city centre trip yesterday. Stuck to the lists & had a few wins. When asked by Mr F for a Christmas wishlist, I stuck to useful things I'd like to receive, one of them being a new tunic-type top I can wear over leggings, jeans or as a dress. We went to the marine-condiment-sounding shop to choose one. Assistant approached us with a basket of folded up little cards & asked us if we'd like to pick a 'lucky-dip'. We did. Mr F's said "20% off anything" & mine said "Free pair of socks of your choice". I tried on lots of tops & chose my favourite but Mr F said that because of the discount, I could choose another, so I picked my next favourite too. Anyway, at the till, I was asked if I had a loyalty card. "No", I said.....then "Oh hang on, I think I have", searched my purse & found it. Assistant said "Oh this card only needs today's stamp to be full" & handed me a £20 gift card!! I couldn't even remember having the thing, let alone that a full one resulted in something as useful as that.
The free socks were priced at £7.50. I have plenty of socks so I chose a pair to go in the presents bag.
Mr F always says presents "are for wants, not needs", but as I progressed further into my profound financial reformation (which started well over a decade ago), I genuinely enjoy receiving useful gifts......& am definitely favourable to the knock-on effect, which is that other areas of the budget are conserved.
Will continue later.....need a coffee top-up.

Sounds like a very successful trip indeed. I love it when things like that happen unexpectedly.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

An excellent and very MSE shopping trip. I generally go into town and come home with nothing as either I cant find what I want or I wont pay the price the shop is asking,. However with my attendance allowance I might allow myself to be a little more generous with what I will afford.

That sounds like a very successful trip to the marine-condiment-sounding shop, happy Christmas, will you be allowed to have them now or will you need to wait until 25th December?
I like their clothes but we don't have a store nearby, which is probably for the best. I do have a couple of their pieces which I like. I know I can buy online but I like to feel fabrics first before even looking at the design or fit.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Sounds like a great shopping trip....took me a while to work out "Marine- Condiment- sounding shop"...lol. I agree presents should be about needs and not just wants. Last year, my daughter gave me a set of mesh produce bags because she knows I hate buying veg in plastic bags and MIL got me some lovely fleecy socks. I love presents like that.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Another fan of useful presents here. I did wonder about the tartare sauce shop for a minute (read as marine-condiment, rather than marine. condiment!) 😂Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Another one for useful presents, pyjamas and socks are acceptable otherwise it must be for the garden. Compost scoop this year from OH, £20 for a nice one (s*phie c*nran) hoping it will help with eyesight and arthritis problems which see me missing the pots far too much5
