Another magazine addict especially the Christmas editions but like sun addict I no longer buy in shops. I used to use club card vouchers but don’t get many of those these days now I have moved nearly all my shopping to Al**. Instead I look for the subscription offers 5 for 5.00 for the months that include the Christmas edition and I always cancel before the renewal comes due. I can get some magazines in eformat from the library which I use for books (use it or lose it is my thinking) but for some reason I struggle with online magazine format so at a pound an issue I can live with that.4

oooh QueenJess i'd love a library ! I do have what i call a landing library - i have a shelf along the whole wall of the landing where lots of my books are but i'd love to have a whole room dedicated to books.
Thanks foxgloves my sister lives in a care home but is only in her 50s & i live 230 miles away from her and the rest of my family.

When I was growing up my dream job was not a nurse, secretary or any of the others that my friends had, but to work in the local mobile library. Even now when I see a library van go past it brings back memories. Love books, prefer them to the kindle which I also have. Re magazines, love a good magazine and used to buy them with yearly subscriptions I got as presents but now use my local E Library where they are free. Most of the ones I used to buy or on the website.xx:j Debtfree and and staying that way.:j3-6 month emergency fund, No.61 £140.005

Agree with all the good memories/associations re libraries. Parts of our house defo look like one & I think @Tescodealqueen is spot on when she says we need to use our public libraries or lose them. I must save significant amounts of money borrowing things like big glossy cook books & knitting books from the library to 'try before I buy'. Much as I love reading these, the reality often turns out to be that the knitting patterns are too tight to accommodate the Foxgloves boobs (always a law unto themselves!) or there is only one recipe I'd actually cook, so on hardbacks priced at £20+, borrowing from the library has been a saving.
At a bit of a loose end today. Was so looking forward to meeting my sis & youngest nephew halfway between here & London for lunch, a good catch-up, exchange presents, etc, but we had to cancel as she tested positive for Covid first thing. We decided we'd all do LFTs as lots of virus about - infection rates in the district I live was more than twice the national average last week. Good job we did. She has no symptoms at all so far, which just shows how the bloody thing spreads so easily.
So I've got on with prepping & soaking my Christmas cake fruit, lined the cake tin ready for baking tomorrow & have put the last of our home grown squash in to roast. Think I will read this afternoon. Thought about putting the Christmas tree 🎄 up, but for some reason, I don't feel quite ready.
Have been typing this & trying to fathom what all the bashing & scraping noises are, that are coming from the kitchen atm. Just realised that Mr F is defrosting the small freezer! I did mention I'd be able to fit more sausage rolls in if there was less ice. Result!

Enjoy your day Foxgloves - a bit of cake prep sounds like just the thing! In terms of Covid my daughter tested positive - she had a v light cough for about a day but I tested her anyway and came up positive on a LF - I was negative but as was booking her a PCR got one for myself too just in case. We both came back as positive but have spent ten days in isolation completely symptom free. So lucky to have escaped any serious illness but as you say, can see how this spreads so easily! If I hadn’t taken that PCR then I’d have been wandering around quite happily not knowing I had Covid 😳Credit Card 1 - £6249.99 £4,900

My daughter and I also tested positive yesterday. Gosh, this thing really is everywhere at the moment.'In the widening gap between credits and debits hangs a question: What parts of this life are you willing to give up, so you can keep on living?'
