I did too, @Deni_debt-free_dreamer. I know people often don't bother pegging out once summer has passed, but my view is that if I can get laundry sufficiently dried that it just needs a couple of hours finishing off on the heated airer, then done regularly, that's got to be a saving versus going straight on there from the washing machine.
Hope you manage to get your heated airer, but I know the price of them just seems to have shot up.

Re heated Airers they had one on the Q*C shopping channel just a small one but it was about 45 quid recently if it helps anyone2

I was hoping to get the laundry outside for a few hours today as it was dry and sunny when I woke up, within an hour it was raining. The day has continued to get colder, wetter and darker. So the laundry has ended up on the airer for with the dehumidifier on the whole time.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

It's been similar here, @Baileys_Babe. Either blowy with lovely sunshine or black clouds & brisk showers. I think in order to avoid paying for more drying of laundry than I'd like, I am going to see if I can work a bit more with the weather forecast. I would not normally do any more laundry now until Sunday night into Monday morning, but I noticed the forecast is quite warm here for this coming Thursday & Friday so I think I may take advantage of that & put a load on.
@Tescodealqueen - Can't comment on the brand as I don't watch TV shopping, but that seems a much more reasonable price than some that we have been discussing on here recently. I would replace mine like for like if anything happened to it, but I would definitely be wincing at the price as I did it. I don't know why they have shot up in price over the last couple of years.

Hi Frugalistas,
Oh dear, another one of those days which disappears in the twinkling of an eyelash. I got up at 6.30....apparently my first words were 'Oh my days, the builders will be here in an hour & a half' & apart from sitting down to eat my breakfast & some toast at lunchtime, I haven't really stopped. I don't seem to have achieved much though. I think this is often the case when there are workmen on site though. So....the money saving bits of what I did manage to achieve were:
*Baked a cake - good idea to keep on the good side of builders when you are wanting to obtain a place in their pressurised work schedule for next year, & I'm sure it works out cheaper than buying a load of packets of biscuits. A slice each will also do Mr F & I for dessert tonight.
*Rubber chicken duties - Didn't make stock, as no room in freezer, but yesterday's roast chicken leftovers have been successfully divvied up for chicken salad & jacket potatoes tonight, chicken stir-fry & noodles tomorrow & a big chunky man sandwich for tomorrow's packed lunch (or should that be a 'Man-dwich'?)
*Did grocery budget update. Also updated Personal Spends, our Home Improvements Budget & paid the decorator's latest invoice.
*Sorted the laundry & ironed as little as possible, although as I only like 100% cotton bed linen, I do always have to iron that. I would defo save on electricity if I didn't like getting into a newly made-up bed of crisp non-wrinkly linen! I guess we've all got our 'red lines'.
That was about it for general frugal activity. I've done other jobs too, but not nearly as many as I thought I would. Fret not, however, for in the immortal words of Scarlet O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day".........
.......& it may also mean a little outing for the coloured pencils, as I really do need to draw out our plans for the front drive/courtyard makeover along with a list of everything we require, so that the builder quote can be as accurate as possible. I am going to make that my priority 'moving something forwards' task tomorrow before I get on with my routine Wednesday jobs like meal plans, etc. OK, must crack on.....better go & select a couple of potatoes for tonight's jackets. Mr F likes one the approximate size of his head, lol, but I'm not sure he's going to be in luck tonight. I'll tell him he's got a smaller one so he's still got room for a slice of cake later when we're watching GBBO.
Bye for now,

Had a tidy-up after builders left & decided to do a 'Moving something forward job' today as well. Found a suitable week for hedge reduction to happen, pinged our tree man to say we defo want to book him & informed neighbours as the work involves collaboration over a long boundary. Also picked a bunch of spring onions & checked for sneaky water ingress following shed roof replacement. The rafters look completely dry. Yay! Hope this continues. Wind really getting up now. Howling down the chimney. Definitely a TV & knitting night.

I have cake for GBBO too
Met stepmum for tea and got a piece of my Dad's birthday cake to bring home (parents live many miles away but stepmum is often up north as that is where her family are based).
Regarding washing outside, apart from the MSE- ness of it, doesn't it smell lovely too

Hello Foxgloves & Gang. Well, we viewed a Narrowboat on Monday morning at Swansley Marina Cheshire. We said to each other 'Don't go for the first one we see' BUT we fell in love with a 58ft Traditional Narrowboat. As we went on board we just got that 'Homely' feeling. It just ticked all the boxes, it just felt right. We looked at each other and said 'This is the one' We did see another one on the notice board and asked to see it, as soon as I went aboard I didnt feel a thing it was grey, unfriendly, just no feeling what so ever, we just turnt round and went back out. We went back to the office asked some questions, paid the deposit. We got given a list of surveyors. Which we have by now phoned and a surveyor is going out Saturday morning to do the survey. If it all comes back with a good report, then we pay for it and it's ours. It's called 'Squires'. In June next year when we hopefully get our holiday at last to Thailand Squires will come out of the water to have a re paint and registered as 'Pixie On The Move'
Here are a few pics for you.Mortgage free September 2021. Narrowboat brought October 2021
