DD loves 'shopping in the loft', which basically means rooting through OH's and my clothes in storage for 'vintage' style, so managing to make a mess in the loft AND make us both feel old in one fell swoop

Lol @Hazelnutty - That reminds me of when I started at university in the early 80s. I took one of my Gran's velvet skirts with me & there were loads of folk swanning around in coats that looked like they'd been filched from various Grandads' wardrobes.

Yes @foxgloves! I thought I looked the bomb with a men's suit jacket or waistcoat from the charity shop. That or a german army shirt from the surplus shop - does anyone remember that trend? [or maybe it was just a local indie kid thing...]Choose kind

We too have a John Lewis credit card just for the points.

Hopefully got my gas bill sorted today. As I’ve been spending most of the time away from home in Scotland due to work & lockdown was shocked at bill - found out the smart meters were not very smart & have been overcharge by £800 😮. New meters installed & hopefully bill adjustment coming soon.4

Thanks @Baileys_Babe ! The Grolsch beer top in the DMs was always a good accompaniment.Baileys_Babe said:We too have a John Lewis credit card just for the points.

I had forgotten about that, reminds me of Bros and now I can't get "When will I be famous?" out of my head, thanks for the earworm @Hazelnutty 🤣 I can go round annoying the rest of the family with occasional snatches of lyrics throughout the day 😃Hazelnutty said:

OMG @Baileys_Babe that was my first ever music prezzie! I got the single for my 10th or 11th birthday from a school friend. I may have got the T'Pau album on casette around the same time. Memories....Choose kind

Lol, you two. I'm defo in a higher age bracket than you, as in their heyday, I always regarded Bros as 'for kids'!

Hello Diary Friends from my totally 100% football-free home. Today's money-saving wins fall into two categories: A bit of free fitness activity & nature's bounty from our veggie garden. Used our annual pass to visit a lovely garden in a neighbouring county. Bought a coffee each & shared a cake (personal spends, so budget-neutral) but we deliberately ate breakfast later so we wouldn't be tempted to trot back to the cafe for lunch. Enjoyed the walk - a bit slow on my dodgy ankle but I do need to move it. Also de-gunked the pond when we got home, which involves lots of bending & stretching.
The garden is repaying our efforts now. Tonight's meal will include home grown lettuce, rocket, watercress, spring onions, basil, cucumber & strawberries. I intend to do some batch cooking over the coming week to ensure we don't waste any of our produce & to get meals into the freezer. Weekly grocery shop was £41, well under budget, so I hope we can carry on with this & end August's budget with a surplus.
Unlikely to have the tv on tonight. Might watch a dvd, might sit out with a gin & tonic watching the swifts & bats.
Enjoy your evenings,
