ππππ I lived on microwave meals when I lived on my own but I always buy the ones that are all in one tray to make life easier, working at the hospital trains you for a life living on micro meals, toast and cereal, when I'm on along day at work I always have cornflakes or rice crispiest for my teaΒOriginal Debt Owed Jan 18 = Β£17,630 Paid To Date = Β£6,736 Owed = Β£10,8948

Well you do long shifts, OBL, so even I (as someone who rarely eats cereal) can see the appeal of a bowl of cornflakes when you finally get home.

Evening Diary Readers,Β
I don't think I have much to report today,
but it's been sunny - albeit with a biting east wind - & I've achieved a few things. I skyped my sister & made notes as she had lots of sewing tips for my top, then spent the rest of the morning in tge veggie plot with Mr F, where we used some of his stash of lopped branches to build a frame & a wigwam for growing our beans. This afternoon, I cut out the remaining two pattern pieces for my top & got the sewing machine set up. I won't bore you with the micro- detail of that, suffice to say I spent an hour dismantling part of it & re-assembling, then a further 40 mins trying to puzzle out why it refused to do zigzag. Finally got the shoulders sewn together but I was fed up with the slow progress by then so read a couple of chapters of my book in the garden before deciding that was as much sewing as I was going to do today.
Watered salad troughs.... radishes & rocket coming up & watered greenhouse plant babies. Pleased to see the first three courgettes have germinated. Came in & mixed up a sourdough loaf ready to bake tomorrow morning. I'm done with jobs for the day now, apart from just setting the washer for an early hours Economy 7 wash, then it's tv, feet-up & cat stroking time.
Take care all. It all feels more surreal by the day. Just got to make best use of our time, I think.Β

I'm very much a knitter, Moving_forward.i did sew clothes for myself in my teens & 20s, but my confidence in dressmaking never really developed that much, whereas I do feel confident with more challenging knitting patterns & could tell that my knitting skills were developing.

I'm the other way my knitting skills were never found until the last few years.Β Its taken me over 4 decades to be able to call myself a knitter!Β I haven't knitted much since winter.Β I find as soon as the sun peeps his/her head out I'm all about the garden and my other hobbies take a back seat until the darker days come.Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee π€

Evening diary readers,Β
I was up early & pegging out my cheapo overnight laundry before breakfast. I baked the sourdough loaf I mixed up yesterday, watered my greenhouse plant babies then settled down at the big conservatory table to finish sewing my top. And amazingly, I DID finish it & even more amazingly, I like it!! I have ironed it & hung it in my wardrobe. It's a jersey top with long sleeves in quite autumnal colours so I think it will come into its own around September, then with my black cardi or poncho as it starts getting chillier. I have some fabric left, so I think I will make one of those stretchy headbands with a twist at the front & maybe a hair scrunchie at some point.
I have a gardening day planned for tomorrow. The courgettes are coming up now - 3 yellow zucchini & 3 Lebanese so far.
Leftover 3-bean curry tonight. It's so useful getting those extra portions into the freezer, isn't it? With a portion of Mr F's lovely jacket wedges, it made a tasty filling meal.
Anyway, hope to be back with some garden progress tomorrow.Β
Cheers all,Β
F x

Slept well & woke late (for me) - 7am - & can't shake doom-laden feelings about the current situation, the mismanaging of it, the state of the country, the world economy, etc. I'm not so bad now I'm up & about. I did a lot of sitting around yesterday because I did my sewing, so I am intending to throw myself into a busy day today. I have plenty to do, so that will sort my head out. I've got coffee in my favourite purple mug & am going to tackle the shopping list first.
Stay safe all of you,Β
