My green house is unheated and tiny so last year i decided I could use the conservatory of our new gouse to grow things in....several whitefly infestations later coupled with compost spillages etc and Mr moving_forward got the hump and has banned me from it 😒Dedicated Debt Free Wanabee 🤓

Newforumtastic Greetings!
Seen the weather forecast? It feels like the lull before the storm here. Very calm, though dropping colder & 🙀 is mithering for the fire to be lit.
City centre trip for us today & all spending went according to plan. I had decided to treat myself to my favourite moisturiser, which is too expensive to use all the time, from my February spends & I needed a cleanser. When I got to the till, I found out the 3 for 2 on skincare was a mix & match offer, so I got an extra cleanser free. As they cost £11 (but last ages), I thought that was a decent offer. Was proud of myself clothes-wise. I did peruse one of my favourite clothes shops but the sale rail was pretty much all size 24s & 26s (where the hell was all that great stuff when I WAS a size 24-26? That's what I want to know!!) There was some nice new season stuff but sooooo much blue, lots of it pretty prints but on navy blue backgrounds so the old PE Knicker-induced aversion to navy blue ensured that my purse remained firmly in my bag! There was a sort of limey green tunic top which I liked & I did pick it up & walk a couple of steps towards the changing rooms before putting it back. I don't need anything new atm. And more to the point, I have two pairs of trousers & two lovely tops which are too tight post-Christmas to wear comfortably. So there is a 4-garment shopping from home opportunity RIGHT THERE IN MY OWN WARDROBE!! And it will be happening before any additional clothing is purchased.
Well, I think I will pop down to the greenhouse to cut some rocket & baby spinach now, as the light is fading fast.
Batten down the hatches for this coming storm,
Love Foxgloves x

Usually when I log on I just go to the posts from the date I last read. Know its early days but its driving me potty on my phone. Glad to be reading your posts again foxglove, have been reading your blog from the start over the last couple of weeks , will be fun trying to find out where I was upto.xx

Hi Amber03, I agree that dates would be useful...... unless I just haven't found them yet. So you have been reading from the beginning & finding out about my silly Spendy Decades. Ah well, at least I'm proof that it's never too late to change.

Oh my goodness..... what an afternoon we've had. The storm very suddenly worsened & with the horrendous rush of gales & horizontal hailstones, we stood in the conservatory hoping the roof would stay on. Thankfully it has (so far) though we have water dripping through up near the pinnacle, but only fairly slight & I've put a bucket under that just in case it gets a bit lively. The only other water ingress I've found is the usual problem of seepage under the front door. I think it's actually that the bit between the bottom door frame & the stone doorstep needs resealing. But there was some good news too. Ever since next door's extension went up, we've had water absolutely spouting off the roof during heavy rainstorms & it's turned a corner of our white render green with algae. We noticed during this afternoon's rather scary level of downpour that there was no mad water spouting off the roof at all. Our very recent new guttering was actually coping with it! More proof that it was money well spent.
This morning, Mr F & I took ourselves off to the village farm shop cafe for coffee, bacon rolls & a bit of a planning meeting with regards to the building work we need done in our house. It was kind of to make sure we are both on the same page with what we want done. It felt quite funny eating a lovely bacon cob with one hand while sketching a plan of sewer pipes with the other! We've been doing pros & cons of having a rather unimpressive loo taken out & converting that tiny room to a utility space for our washing machine, mop, vacuum, buckets, airer, etc. But we can't get any further without talking to builders so I must progress that tomorrow.
Fingers, toes & paws crossed here that we have put aside sufficient funds to do all the priority stuff.
Stay safe in this crazy weather,

Sorry to hear about your leakage Foxgloves but I'm glad it's only a little. This weather is crazy isn't it? I thought we'd got off lightly so far so I shouldn't be too surprised. The idea of taking refuge in the farm shop café appeals to me, and a great place for a planning meeting.
I hoped you enjoyed it.
