How long should a purchase take?

I know this is a very generic question but:
We have just been approved for a mortgage. To buy the house that we are currently renting from a housing association.
The housing association have said the turn around is 12 weeks. To me, this sounds very long, and part of me is suspicious that the longer it takes the more rent they get from us?
Is 12 weeks excessive? Thank you.

My last 2 purchases took 6 weeks from date of offer to competion.
Depends on too many factors and every purchase/sale is different. Good lucks0 -
We accepted offer on Jan 12th, we will be completing next Friday (March 9th) if our solicitor stops messing about!0

i put an offer in on a house october 14th and we got the keys december 20th, but it was an empty property and all pretty simple.0
