Dental bridge cost

Hello, I don’t pay for my Dental treatment and recently had a tooth extracted. I would like a replacement and a friend mentioned a bridge. Will I have to pay and if so would anyone have a rough idea how much? Also how long would I have to wait for gum to heal before having it done?

Many thanks

Very hard to say without knowing a lot more.

Healing time will depend on where the bridge is going to be, and how it will look in your smile.

If it's a front tooth, and you show a lot of tooth (and gum) when you smile, then 6 months at the least will be necessary to let the bone settle into a stable position. If it's nearer the back and the tooth/gum interface doesn't show when you smile your broadest smile - then you can get away with a shorter healing time.

Obviously - if it's somewhere that shows, then a temporary denture or adhesive bridge will need to be made as a temporary measure.

Whether you have to pay or not will depend whether this is deemed a 'necessary' treatment on the NHS. I have to say, this is probably going to be highly unlikely. A denture will restore aesthetics and function in the most cost-effective way, and that is all the NHS is there for.

If you have it done privately, then the cost will depend on what type of bridge it is, and how many other teeth will need to be involved in it's support. It might easily be that a bridge may not be suitable just because of the teeth around it either being to good to risk taking a drill to, or too bad to support the false one. This is a discussion you will need to have with the dentist who can see your teeth.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

My recent bridge, that was to cover the area of two side by side teeth, cost me £2600
