I wish I could keep up and know who these big noises are, then I might be able to attach more meaning to what was being said.

My pennyworth: Everybody's playing a different game because there was only one pack of cards and we can't all have the aces first time round.

Sometimes if you appear to have made a false start, you can catch up later. If you fall at the first hurdle you can see how the others get round the course and work out what works/what doesn't and hope to be able to apply it next time.

Often people who have done well are sat on their thrones telling everybody that anybody can do it if only they worked harder/longer, etc.... but they don't realise that when the cards were handed out they just got the better deal.

Everybody has different experiences and expectations.

To me, the only measure of success is to not harm anybody along the way - and to help others where possible/

There are a lot of people on here who do not measure success the same way as you, thats why they are here

Money isnt everything... I joined this site because I like to save money... so that I don't to work as much to enjoy my life.

And yes im a FTB, a young pup who hasn't got a house but i've got a wonderful fiancee and I enjoy every minute with her.. This is my Success.

Making the choice between Being a Millionaire OR having a family I'd pick the family. My reasoning? You can't take money with you when you die, however a family leaves a part of yourself behind to continue on :)... the most important thing in life.

Ofc I'd love to have money and a big family so will be trying to get both of these :). To summarise my blathering.... Success is not one thing... it is a combination of many things that have different weights of 'success'.

    Success to me is:
    • Family
    • Being happy
    • Getting as much R+R as possible (not working 60+ hour weeks for the new kitchen)
    • Assets
There are others but these come to my head.

I just wanted to put things in perspective... people sometimes put too much value on money... money is there so you enjoy your life. We only live short lives really so as humans its best to make sure you enjoy it.

And just so you know im intending to start a family before I get my First home. The market is volatile, i could buy now but intend to stash the deposit over another year or so along with getting married lol. I think everyone is in agreement that house prices wont bottom out over night... it'll take at least 2 years maybe up to 5, I will be sensible in my first purchase but I won't put my life on hold while i wait.

    Yes exactly.

Do you think I need to buy a house? What does buying a house prove?

Is it required to be happy? to start a family?

That's all well and good, Neas. And it's refreshing to know that you realise the importance of owning your own home - which is why you are saving up for one.

It's a lovely warm feeling knowing your childrens future is secure and you will one day leave them a wonderful legacy to help them improve their lifestyles.

It's a satisfying feeling to know you're King of your own Cstle - it makes for a better family life.
