Are you for real? Currently by STR I'm saving:
1) Interest on my equity
2) Monthly difference between what I was paying in mortgage and what I pay in rent
3) Plus house prices are dropping
If I buy a house tomorrow, compared with buying in Aug 07 (the house I was about to buy is still on the market at £10K less), I would save around 20K. This amount saved is currently rising every month.
Exactly. In fact the house I nearly bought was @ £.210,000.00. Although I lost almost £1000.00 in fees I have lived in my rental at the same cost as my mortgage payments were and am banking about £520.00 pm in interest on the equity. If I buy the house I now like around the end of May I'll still have that extra £3000.00 to put in so no loss.
Better yet I will get a house of the same size in a better area in absolutely pristine condition ( the other needed work) and with a huge secluded garden for £190,000.
How on earth can paying £19000 less for something better be a bad move I wonder?
I could sit tight and wait until things go down more and buy when it seems to be leveling out but I'm happy to get the house I want to live in at a price I can afford.
Pickled'pink''s post on this makes absolutely no sense. Moreover I have certainly felt no desire to rush out and spend my equity on a holiday or other 'treats'.Living on Earth can be expensive, but it does include an annual free trip around the Sun.0 -
I had the shock of my life when I read the first line of this post - I thought it was from "pickledpink" and had to look at the poster's name again before I realised it wasn't.
p.s. Pickledpink is in the picture in post #2091
*sigh* Having my handle virtually hijacked is bad enough. Being confused with the author of that nonsensical post is downright depressing.

Those are my principles. If you don't like them, I have others.
I have writer's block - I can't begin to tell you about it.
You told me again you preferred handsome men but for me you would make an exception.

Hmmmm, I don't think are knockers are big enough judging from PP's self description--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Don't let it get you down, pickledtink. You're clearly a high class gal, unlike that other broad....0
