Why should anyone care? People need to live within their means, and if in a 'crash' they lose their homes, they simply haven't.

Please remember there is a huge difference between human need and lifestyle. If people choose to 'better themselves' with debt, it has to be payed back or their lifestyle will suffer. They are not losing their ability to live, mearly a more comfortable one.

It's difficult to explain to people who have no concept of buying a home and not a house.

Says the person who gloated in post #1893:

Yeah they were good times !!!!!! bought 7 years ago for £65k sold it last year for £210k nice holidays cheap money borrowed for cars on house etc..pity you missed it all heh?

Yeah - it's really great when new buyers have to shell out 3x what they'd have done 5 or 6 years ago to buy their lovely 'home' (in reality, a basic house that they'll move out of after they have kids).

I mean, average salaries have gone up 3x in that time period too haven't they? Whoops - now buyers have to put themselves into near debt-slavery to buy a 'home'.

What a collossal hypocrite you are proving yourself to be. :rotfl:

At least those of us here who are exposing the sham of the housing market are helping people who might find themselves up to their necks in debt as the market collapses.

On the other hand, attention seeking idiots like yourself are just taking bandwitdth and obscuring the message on this thread that might save some potential housebyers - whoops HOMEbuyers - financial necks as the market declines.

Good to hear that you made a few bucks out of the rising market and then caught on yourself to the fact that it was falling, evidenced by the fact that you say you Sold To Rent and then used market weakness to get your new place at below market value though (post #1926):

In answer to the other poster i moved in to rented and pocketed the equity.
I did buy again though in december, got it on the cheap to be fair with a few grand cash gift on completion, got it around 15% below market value at the time..

The hypocrisy meter just exploded :D

Really, you should get back under your bridge before your trolling here encourages some poor FTBer into the market over their necks.

Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.

Seems ironic how the same people whe helped put us in this position are now going to help bring it all down again.
