Hi all,
just wanted to inform everyone of a deal i created in my local blockbuster, basically i went into blockbuster to get the ps3 40gb for £349.99 which comes with a free game, blu ray disc, wireless controller and hd cable. anyway i looked at the titles on offer for the free game and blu ray and told the shop assistant that they were no good so to cut a long story short i managed to negotiate the sales assistant to give me fight night instead of the selected titles and 300 instead of the selected blu rays, so basically i got a top chart game and a top new blu ray instaed of the junk they try to offer you as free games, so basically my point is if you are considering getting a bundle through blockbuster try be very friendly and suggest that maybe you would be more inclined to buy the ps3 if they offered you some better titles instead of the selected games and blu ray, they did some discount and i got the new offer for £351.00, £2 more but i got a better game and a better blu ray, sorry for boring you all just thought it may help you negotiate a better deal with blockbusters for the ps3 bundles. and they also gave me a voucher booklet for 5 free rentals and a £5 off my next game/dvd purchase, you have to mention the vouchers to them as they dont general offer to giv you them.

Did you get the 60gb version? the 40gb with 2 blue ray movies is £299 at gamestation, fightnight game is £39, total = £338. Blockbuster seems over priced

if they charged you £349 for a 40gb ps3 then the game, blu ray, controller and hd cable were not free because the 40gb is meant to be £299 on its own.

the 60gb ps3 is £349 (which also has backwards compatibility for ps2 games, the 40gb doesn't) and normally comes with at least 2 free games.

i got a 60gb ps3, 2 games (motorstorm and resistance) and 2 blu ray (open season and casino royale) for £315 from virgin megastore

meant to be £350 with 2 free games and 2 free blu ray from a selection, but got an additional 10% discount with a virgin credit card

Can I just say as someone who works for Blockbusters that these kind of negotiations are at the staffs discretion as basically we arent allowed to do that and if we are found to be doing it without consent from the manager we can get warnings etc

That said in my experience if you are nice to blockbuster staff they WILL do their best to help you (especially if it means your going to spend lots of money lol) but just remember we dont get anything extra for making big sales so dont be offended if the staff who serve you dont fancy taking the risk for you

They dont offer them cause deals change so often we are often neglected to be told about such offers - its not that we dont want you to have the vouchers, we just honestly are unaware they are there
So dont be afraid to ask, we are a nice bunch (well the dogsbody CSR's are anyway )

If I remember correctly the extra 49 pound covers the controller and cable, but the game is actually free .....

but dont have the sheet in fromnt of me so dont hold me to that lol

I think i will have to write all the deals down - I know alot of our long term offers arnt really all that special - but every now and again we get some good ones in that only last a short time

if thats the case, thats not a great deal. the controller can be bought elsewhere for £25-£30 and the lead for about £15

hi all just to make my point clear i wasnt suggesting the deal was 100% the cheapest i was just making you aware that you could infact negotiate at blockbysters discretion the titles t=you recieve as gifts, i think getting a ps3 40gb with a chart game and top blu ray plus an extra controller and cable is a good deal its definatelyy better than the amazom deal becuase i wasnt limbered with two games or blu rays that i didnt want, the 2 free games they are are old games that nobody really wants, anyway since you guys obviously know it all i wont bother posting on these forums, do you treat all first time posters like this, when they are just trying to help
