My husband wants me to pay half the mortgage

My husband and his brother own a house together. We were all living here (two couples) for 5 years together and splitting the bills 4-ways. Now his brother has bought a property with this wife but is still on the deeds of this current house. My husband wants me to start paying half the mortgage but he won't add my name to the deed. he keeps insisting that his share will go to me when he passes away. I've calculated that on a 22 year term my contribution would be around 30K. What rights do i have and how can i make him understand my views of being added to the deed?

You need to find out how the property is held? Tenants in common or joint tenants. If the latter and your husband dies his share will automatically go to the other joint owner (the brother). If tenants in common, your husband can leave his share to you in his will.

He doesn't sound like your husband ! He sounds more like a housemate. And perhaps its best you all sell and buy a property with your husband.
