Nationwide mortgage application

Options
Hi All,

I initially applied for a DIP with Nationwide. I received a message saying my application had been referred to an underwriter and was asked to send in 3 months of payslips for my partner and I. A couple of days later my status changed to DIP approved and I have just completed a full application and a request for a valuation has been sent out.

A couple of questions. Would a referral to an underwriter at the DIP stage, which is then approved, mean that its more likely that a full mortgage offer will be made given scrutiny by an underwriter, or is that just wishful thinking?

Secondly, we are purchasing (hopefully) in Scotland so why would NW not simply use the existing home report? Is it normal that would seek their own valuation? Many thanks!

  • Hi!

We have literally just applied for a mortgage with Nationwide- on 14th Feb. We had the valuation done last Weds and now I believe the case is with the underwriters- they needed a few extra documents like extra bank statements etc. I thought because they had arranged the valuation that we would be accepted but I don't think it works like that! Nationwide so far have been really good- fingers crossed for both of us!
  • Hi,

All mortgages go to an underwriter however it could still be rejected at this stage if they felt the need - I know this probably isn!!!8217;t what you wanted to hear however I wish you the best of luck.
