Recipes at cut prices - add your own!

Options
Hi all,

I can't seem to find a thread like this so I'm making one to help you and for you all to help me!

Basically I'm going to post recipes for families and singles with the prices of ingredients listed. Please add your own under the same format.

Italian Chicken Sandwich and chips - Feeds 8:

Ingredients:
1 bag of Lidl frozen chicken breasts - £3.33
Dried Oregano - £0.40 (if bought from markets, or ebay in bulk. NOT glass jar 50g over priced stuff)
vegetable oil - £0.05
ciabatta x 8 - £2.00
Grated Cheese - £1.50
Ketchup - £0.15
Oven Chips - £1.00

Total: £8.43 - £1.06 per serving.

Method:
Once the chicken is thawed, place in a roasting tray or dish and lightly cover with oil. Make sure that all of the chicken is covered. Sprinkle oregano (Italian seasoning mix is just as good). cover all sides of the chicken with seasoning.
cover the tray in foil and put the chicken in the oven to roast. (i'm not going to give times as everyone's ovens are different).
Make sure you don't forget the chips!
Once the the chicken is done, remove and rest.
Cut the Ciabatta rolls in half and lightly toast under the grill
Slice the chicken across the grain and add to the bottom of the ciabatta.
Add some ketchup to the top of the chicken, and sprinkle with cheese. Place back under the grill until it bubbles.
Take out and serve.

Not massively healthy lol! It can be even cheaper if you are in the shops and see they are selling off ciabatta rolls.

Feeds 4 - or can be frozen!

Before you read the list of ingredients, you don't have to add everything! This is just what I found works best... don't have any mustard powder? don't worry!!!

    Ingredients:
    Minced Beef 20% - £1.49 (lidl)
    1 Onion - £0.20
    5 x rasher of bacon - £0.80
    Lettuce - £0.50
    Ketchup (little squirt) - £0.05
    Mustard Powder (1 teaspoon) - £0.10
    Worcestershire Sauce (Splash) - £0.05
Parsley Leaves (dried or fresh) - £0.05 if dried
    1 egg yolk - £0.10
    4 Breadcakes (£1.00)

    Total: £4.34 + Sides
    £1.09 per serving

    In a mixing bowl add:
Mince, half a finely chopped onion, 1 rasher of finely chopped bacon, dash of ketchup, dash of Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, mustard powder, 1 egg yolk, and some dried parsley.
Mix well and split into 4 burger shapes.
It's always best to cover and put in the fridge for an hour but not vital.
Now is the perfect time to cook the bacon under the grill.
The way you cook the burgers will determine if you have the best burger in the world, or just a pretty damn good burger.
best way is a cast iron grill pan - NO oil. super hot and cook for about 3-4 mins each side. Don't flip over and over, and don't keep pressing down on them.
Let the burgers rest and toast lightly toast the breadcakes and remove from the grill.
Add the burgers to the grill tray and add cheese and melt.
Burger construction is very important if all other steps were followed. These are very juicy burgers!!!
Bun - Lettuce - Burger - Bacon - Rest of the onion - Bun
The lettuce will protect the bun from going soggy.

If you want a heart attack and love to be adventurous do this extra step!:
put the bacon on a foil lined oven tray, sprinkle the bacon with brown sugar. stick it in the oven and turn half way through, brush the melted sugar on the other side of the bacon. It's called candy bacon. It's unreal!

Cheers, I didn't think to look there.

I thought that section would be aimed more towards melting burnt out candles
