No credit history- Could I get a mortgage ?

  • The broker is with Reeds Rains. It is they who are handling the rental / sale of the house and they approached us with the landlord's proposal. It seemed like the simplest thing to do to let the Reeds Rains mortgage adviser handle the brokering- we figured this would speed things up.
Actually the whole process has been unnecessarily dragged out, there have been stupid delays and I don't have any confidence in him.
He just told us he has handed in his notice and that an adviser from another branch is going to take over our case!
We need to find an experienced broker we can trust!

Reeds rains only have about 10 lenders on their panel (technically Whole of Market, but we have over 50...). There is a reason why people say do not use estate agent based brokers - in fact there are a few reasons.

This kind of explains how Kensington came in to the mix, it is because they have very few other options where you are failing credit score.

Get a "proper" broker who is not tied to an estate agents and you should be fine.

  • Thank you @ACG . We are going to ditch the Reeds Rains broker.

My partner spoke to a local "proper" broker this afternoon who was very positive about our chances we will meet with them later in the week and hopefully things will go our way. Fingers crossed!
