You are being a tad over dramatic. What the OP is proposing is very common in this sort of industry.
Posters on here seem to be implying she is doing something unusual and risky, when in reality I would suspect the majority of these sort of businesses do things like this.
I have no doubt whatsoever that you are right. But as Naf says - just because everybody else does it doesn't mean it's sensible. I also agree that the risk is small, but "what if" the worst happens?
The OP has also posted on the Small Biz board and has essentially had stronger advice than she has on here. (Although I haven't checked that this morning).
There's also a beautician poster on the Consumer Rights board asking for advice because she's being sued by a client. The claim seems to be quite far down the line, but the poster hasn't informed her insurers because she thinks she's being scammed(!?!?). That's bonkers!
Certain arrangements may be "usual" in this sort of industry, but it doesn't mean you are necessarily absolved of responsibility.0
