Help to Buy - Fair Credit Rating

My girlfriend and I are in the process of securing a house. We have the necessary deposit in place and we have been approved for help to buy, however I currently have a Fair credit score. I went over my old student account overdraft limit and therefore ‘missed’ 4 payments. This was only £60 over the limit however it has dropped my credit score down significantly.

What are the chances of us securing a help to buy mortgage for the amount we need to borrow? Our mortgage advisor has all of our bank statements; pay slips etc and can see that we earn and save enough each month. Is there a lender out there that we could borrow from who also provide help to buy? This is our dream home and we would be devastated to lose out on it!

A mortgage broker should be able to offer you tailored advice after checking over your details and credit files.

Don't worry too much about your credit score. The score is a marketing gimmick to try and sell you credit improvement services. The lenders do not see your score when making a decision.
