Solicitor Before Making an Offer?

Hello.
We have just got an AIP from Halifax to buy our first home.
So we are planning to start viewing properties.
My question is, in peoples experience, should we sort a solicitor out before we make an offer or once an offer is accepted and we start the mortgage application?
Looking on Google, various sites state before but other sites say after offer.

I guess it doesn!!!8217;t make any difference. I doubt there!!!8217;s me much a solicitor can do before you have even got an offer accepted.
I viewed and offered on a house. Got my mortgage application going. That was the priority. Then you can instruct solicitors.
I guess it!!!8217;s upto you which way you do it but canr really see the benefit of doing it beforehand. Just in case you dont manage to find a house which is always a possibility.0 -
Entirely up to you.
In the past I've asked a solicitor to issue a quote to a client and open a file, doing nothing for the time being.
Other times, clients have agreed a purchase before obtaining fee quotes.

Solicitors tend to get back to you within 24hrs with a quote and will need a rough estimate of house price so I would find the house first and once you feel ready to offer, seek quotes from solicitors then whilst your offer is being considered.0

Worth make enquiries and finding one that you are happy with. So when you've made an accepted offer. Everything is in place. Though make sure they are on your lenders panel.0

Bear in mind that many mortgage lenders now have so called approved solicitors pannels. If youy chose the solicitors that are not on a panel of the lender, the lender will appoint a separate solicitor to act on their behalf, rather than lender using the same soliciots as you.
It would then be you picking up those extra costs.
I would only chose the solicitors after I know who is the mortagge lender and I would not pay any fees to the solicitors until I have a mortgage offer.0
