Maybe I misread. If it has any sort of terminal bonus I definitely would hang on.
The guaranteed sum assured plus bonuses come to £18.5k, but the estimated MV is over £26k. The terminal bonus makes up the difference. I would not surrender a 25 year policy just months before it matures.
Insurers try very hard to make sure that maturity values are fair (especially for published terms like 10, 15 and 25 year policies) but not to the same extent with surrender values.0 -

^ This. However, I don't think that surrendering now or holding until maturity is likely to have a major impact on Terminal Bonus paid (ignoring market fluctuations).0
