Cost of bird guard on solar pv?

Options
Hello - I am debating getting bird guards put onto our solar pv when it is installed. Prevention being easier than cure and all that.

Does anyone have any idea on cost when this is done retrospectively? I am hoping it should be cheaper if I get it done at the time of the installation.

Thanks :)
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

I paid around £540 (inc. VAT) for bird proofing one year after installation, the pigeons have tried their hardest but haven't defeated it yet.

I had a variety of other quotes, one was £1,356...!

A BB gun can be had for £20 and provides endless hours of amusement sat in my garden with a tin :D

Yes, but I'm not sure that shooting a BB gun at your solar panels is a good idea.:undecided
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Touch wood but I have had my panels nearly 5 years and not had a problem. We have plenty of flying rats around but they must chose to nest elsewhere.

Yep, me too. They're probably too fat to fit under the panels, and the neighbour's willow is far handier.

Hi Wobblydeb, afraid I can't help with a price for retro fitting but, like you, I sought prices for it along with installation of the panels. I had quotes between £135 and £600!
In the end the company I settled on to complete the installation agreed to include it at no extra cost. No doubt it's paid for somewhere within the figures, or maybe they were just keen to get the business!

I didn't go for it in the end... I never was much of a one for buying insurance :p

We're thinking of getting a cat anyway :D
