Not a pleasant situation - but as others have said, there probably isn't anything you can do from a legal perspective...

On the positive side, bear in mind that any reference you may need to request from this company will probably simply consist of a letter stating your start and end dates and your salary without any reference to you having been dismissed. If this point concerns you at all, you could give them a call to confirm (or otherwise) that this is the format their references take.
  • It does sound like this company is being unreasonable. However they are entitled to dismiss by giving notice, unfortunately.

Do check the notice period in your contract. You would be entitled to one week's notice - or the notice period stated in your contract if it is longer.

So do check you get are getting paid for your notice period.

Thank you to all the sensible forum members who gave me advice which I asked for, much appreciated.

As for the troll who gave its critique were it wasn't sought, your 2 cents are not welcome.

Whether you think the poster was a troll or not is immaterial as really the only opinion that has any bearing on the matter is your line managers whom considers you have had an unacceptable amount of time off through trivial reasons therefore has decided to let you go. All you can do is ensure you are paid any notice period together with accrued holidays and move on.
