how do you change the account for a pension

My father is 88 and he has had a Post Office card account since he retired over 20 years ago. Each week he draws his pension in cash. He had a letter from the government saying that the card account was being discontinued and he had to open a savings account with the Post Office instead. This we have done. Now I need to change the account into which his pension is paid from a Post Office card account to the Post Office Instant Saver. The Government pension site tells you that you can change the account into which your pension is paid but not how to do so.
I'm sure it's perfectly simple but I can't find anywhere which tells me how to do it..
Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this simple task?
Thanks.

There is an article that refers to this
https://inews.co.uk/inews-lifestyle/money/mysterious-letter-from-the-dwp-has-left-me-confused-about-my-pension-payments/
I assume this is the letter your dad received. From what it says the letter has been confusing and your dad can keep his current payment method until 2021.
There is a DWP freephone number 0800 085 7133.

I've just completed this for my Dad who wanted his State Pension paid into his current account (rather than the Post Office).
You need to get in touch with the Pension Service and ask for a 'Change of Circumstances' form or use the following link.
http://www.pensions-advice.me.uk/pdf/directpayment/dpgenjun04.pdf
The form itself is a bit long as it covers all manner of changes (address, name etc etc) so you'll have to bear with it.
You put in details of the new account and post it off. The whole process took about 6-8 weeks but was done without any c*^kups.0 -

Contact the Pension Service for information about your State Pension. You can also report a change in your circumstances, for example your address or bank account details.

Thanks. The phone tends to be difficult because my father is very hard of hearing and very often he can't hear what is being said and if I repeat what has been said then the person on the other end won't go any further because I'm deemed to be "prompting" him with the answers.0

If the phone is proving tricky perhaps you could try filling in the form the link for which was given in post 3.
