Hi all
I’d like to help my wife with buying a house. She has some deposit but may not be able to get a mortgage. But I certainly can get a mortgage.
Can I get a mortgage but have the house in her name. As she ll pay for the deposit and mortgage installnenrs really.

Not a residential mortgage as you wont be living in it. Do you already have a mortgage on the property you are living in?
Is she happy to pay the deposit and mortgage payments but not have her name on the deeds? There are ac couple of lenders who would allow you both to be on the mortgage but the house to be owned just in your wifes name.0

I cannot see any lender taking on this kind of arrangement - it causes difficulty in the rare event of a default. Maybe joint names but would that cost more tax?0
