Any plumbers in? Is this tap plumbed correctly?

We moved into this house in October, since then we've been wondering why our hot water has been disappearing. The water could be on for a couple of hours and your lucky sometimes if you have enough for a shower. I think I have found the culprit.
I noticed in the utility the taps are wired correctly. The tap with red tab gives out cold water and vice versa. The Mrs also mentioned that sometimes the clothes coming out of the washing machine are roasting. So had a look under the sink.
https://imgur.com/a/uytjs The pipe on the right with the blue switch connected to the washing machine is actually connected to the warm pipe, if you touch the pipe you can feel it warm, it's not cold as indicated by the blue switch. The pipe on the left is cold and its this one I think the machine should be connected to but I can't see any way of connecting it. Any ideas?

Somehow you will have to plumb in a T fitting, to supply cold to the washing machine.
Depending on you DIY skills depends how you go about it
Compression T fittings are readily available so soldering skills are not required
Or get a plumber otherwiseGardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0 -

Its a rented house, perhaps I should just say to the landlord. Is there a reason for it being like this?0 -
Definitely have a word with your landlord.
In my completely amateur opinion, it sounds almost as if you have a cold-fill-only washing machine, and someone has attached it to the hot-water supply.
At the very least, at some point some clothes are going to be damaged if they are coming out of the machine "roasting" - I'm thinking here of things that need to be washed at cool temperatures of course.
But it definitely needs looking into.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
If it is cold fill only you also stand a chance of damaging the internal seals.
Here is an item and comments about hot into cold fill washer
