Does anyone know how you can tell the model and model year of a Cannondale bike just from the serial number? I need to find out whether a bike is the 2016 model or the 2017 model and searching online has drawn a black because the exact same colours and pattern were used on both the 2016 and 2017 bike.

Im out of touch on groupsets but looking at the spec.
2017 has BR785 and the 2016 R505 brakes.
Can these be visibly distinguished?

It has the R505 brakes and it is the 2016 model (my friend eventually found her invoice from the bike shop).
