Yes, it was wrong as it was for a receipted/documented expense, which we provided the invoice to the tax inspector along with full explanation of why it was being claimed as a valid expense. Letter after letter from tax inspector being a right pain in the bum about it and completely ignoring our references to the taxes acts, their own manual and case law!
That's a completely different scenario from rogue accountants who put expenses through all their clients accounts without proof/documentation etc, which is basically fraud.0 -
although oddly a pilot scheme was offered to limit the recovery to 2 years with only a 10% penalty! Anyone who didn't take up the offer suffered a full enquiry for 6-20 years-worth and up to 100% penalty.
