General rule of thumb is that secured loans are easier to get than a Mortgage. Term can be the same as a normal Mortgage.

  • I will look at the secured loan route and get some quotes. Biggest worry is when the current fixed rate ends with Halifax in October, will I be put onto a variable rate automatically? Will they review my mortgage with them and consider any additional borrowing I've took out elsewhere in the meantime i.e a secured loan?

You can usually switch products without reunderwriting.

  • Its looking more likely that I will sell. Half the equity with the ex, pay the debt off and start again with a deposit.

What is the likelihood of getting a mortgage with Halifax with no debt but a poor credit score?
