Do you tip your hairdresser?

I tend to tip a professional hairdresser but these days I get cheap cuts/colours at a training college and I don't tip them because I give them both the chance to practice on my hair and LOADS of time (2 hours 45 mins for a cut yesterday).
I think it's expected in London but it's not expected outside London, but I'd rather give them an incentive/bonus.
I live in London at the moment and I do think that the tipping culture goes hand-in-hand with good service in places where it's the norm (not just London but other places like Egypt and Mexico).0 -
Always. My hairdresser is great, I've never had so many compliments on my hair since I started going to her. She is also so reasonably priced compared to the bigger salons in town.
If I wasn't happy with the service then I wouldn't/0 -
I tip my hairdresser. She's a mobile hairdresser and I've been using her for years. She's significantly cheaper than a salon and does a really good job. When I first started using her I tipped her because I thought she was underselling herself. It's played in my favour over time as she went through a period of slashing the number of customers she had and then she reduced the area she would travel in (after having children). I'm out of her area but she'll still travel to me because it's worth her time and the tip more than covers her petrol.
My partner also uses her now. He doubles the amount she charges with a tip because it's still cheaper than the local barbers and a much better cut.0 -
I never tip I pay over £80 a time plus hairdressers are well paid these days
Tipping goes back to the days they were poorly paid0
