SA252 form - what does it mean

Hi,

I have received a SA252 leter from HMRC, it asks to contact them if things have changed. If they have n't do I still need to contact them.

If I dont contact them will they take it that nothing has changed ?

Dont really want to get in touch with the tax man unless I have too.

Thanks in advance for any help

It's just a standard letter reminding you to contact them if there has been any change which would affect your tax liability because you are a higher rate taxpayer like :

You have interest on savings which is only taxed at 20% by your bank/building society but you should pay 40%

you now have or no longer have a company car, medical benefits or other perk supplied by your employer

you now have income from property or foreign income

you no longer make gifts to charity but have an allowance in your tax code because you are a higher rate tax payer.

If there has been no such change then shred the letter and recycle it.

You're categorised as a higher rate taxpayer - but HMRC are not currently asking you for an SA return - and they did not issue you with a P810 (declaration of Int / dividends / other income rec'd) last year! So, the letter is just reminding you that if the circumstances HMRC are aware of have changed ... you need to advise them.

As previous post ... if unchanged ... just recycle it (as mine, earlier this week).
