Forgot to say hubby has a radio and those little ear phones and uses it to listen when he wakes and cant sleep until he drifts off again, he also has trouble not overthinking especially at night.0

You're absolutely right - it was jarring to have an unplanned spend that meant using the debit card; one of my ways of being mindful is to be cash-only as much as possible.
The emergency fund was doing OK until car problems last December wiped it out; I have allowed for it in my SOA and it should start to build back up next month. Small steps!
The main positive of the early start was that I busied myself trawling through the medicine drawer for out of date stuff - one little decluttering job gone from the list
Usually I would be dealing with my head by going for a run, but my leg is still mending from a muscle tear (another clue as to why my moods have been all over the place for the last few weeks!). I can walk reasonable distances now without pain so I just need to talk myself into it. I did get out at lunchtime, only for 15-20 minutes but better than nothing.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240 -
Hope you have better rest tonight and your muscle tear heals soon. The bit of walking in the meantime, when you can, will help even if just for a little while. (I must say admire the fact you can run even if not at the moment!!). TC0

By most people's definition it's a slow jog, but it's for sanity not speed :rotfl:Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240

Today is a day of calm!
My new card arrived, so the next part of the balance transfer shuffle is underway. I am at the mercy of how quickly the banks process things, so the worst case scenario is that I will not be able to shift the last part of the 17.9% balance before the offers expire.
***edit*** The other cc offer has just been extended for a further week, which gives me enough time! Yay!
But more importantly, I've sorted a payment plan for the 'new' debt and the very nice, kind, reassuring man on the end of the phone has indicated that my proposal of payment in instalments over a year with 15-20% upfront is perfectly viable, and that given the numbers I have proposed it's very unlikely that they'll need to look at income/expenditure themselves. So I can concentrate on getting the paperwork in. I was so nervous beforehand that I could feel my face on fire and my heart thumping in my chest. I'm so glad that this little milestone is out of the way!Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240 -
Pleased you have had a good day One-step0

Thank you!
Not such a good day for the husband - tried a new garage for a very minor car repair and ended up being stiffed on labour charges. We have to chalk it up to "live and learn". I will try to rectify it with eBay sales over the next few weeks.
I have trawled through the MSE email that landed in my inbox a while ago and have now downloaded the Friends of Krispy Kreme app - a free donut for signing up and another one on my birthday plus one for husband on his birthday? Oh, go on then. No perk is too insignificant for us now!
Just thinking how lovely it is to not have a headache or a furrowed brow for once.Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240 -

Heyyyyyy, returning the dedication and read through your diary. Wish I had the patience to sell as much as what you have I just cant seem to get into it.
Glad your building up your emergency fund, all my funds that I create make a massive difference to my life style breaking it up over a year so I dont get caught out, hopefully one day Ill be saving a year in advanced for everything.
Im subscribed now so Ill be routing you on with your journey.
Hope you start feeling better and less anxious soon and get a full nights sleep.0 -
Good afternoon everyone!
I woke up early again today but got more than 6 hours of sleep last night - best in a while!
This morning I got paid for two of the items I sold earlier this week and popped the £50 straight onto the card, bringing the total of extra payments made this month: £360.97. Aiming to break the 400 barrier by the end of the month; there's still time! I'm due a £25 payment tomorrow, and if I stick to budget there will be enough left in my current account to manage the rest.
LadyP01 - I actually really hate using eBay, but got very motivated last year when we set ourselves a challenge to sell enough that we could have a small holiday as well as make a dent in the debt. It became like a game to me. Now with full-on frugality mode kicked in, the focus is far away from holidays, and every extra penny is getting chucked at the debt.
I have made a list of all the stuff I have that can still be sold, and it still adds up to a fair bit - it should be possible to clear another £150 or so per month over the next year, I just need to make sure I avoid burnout!Debt-free August 21, Mortgage-neutral April 240
