Avance Consulting, anyone used them?

Has anyone heard of Avance Consulting before? They're an IT recruitment agency.

I've had quite a few calls from them recently with interesting jobs. They're supposed to be headquartered in London with an offshore contingent in India.

I've had umpteen calls from foreigners who struggle to understand me, but the jobs they're offering are piquing my interest.

I just don't know whether to trust them, if I search for them I don't find any reviews from clients, just internal workers who are all Indian. They keep asking me to send them an updated copy of my CV, and asking me to confirm information which should be on all of my CVs, which they claim to have through a website I've never used before, namely Jobserve.

  • What a bunch of idiots to work for.. They hardly speak English, they are typical "Yes Men" ... yes yes everything is fine with your contract and the such and then !!!! hits the fan....Which is a typical cultural thing as the the norm where they come from is to "save face"...

Their arrangement to pay you is 35 days upon receipt of the your invoice and approved timesheets from the client. This is a recipe for disaster as you normally have to send them copies (screenshots) of the approved timesheets as there is usually no data interexchange with their end client. And again they will not honor they 35 day pay day...

Having worked in countless contracts in the country this is the worst system i have encountered and it seems to be set up this way in order for your hard earned day rate to stay in their bank accounts and work hard but not for your interest...

Oh by the way there is the option to bypass that 35 day wait to get paid period. However there is a charge of 2% on your monthly salary and you will get paid on time!

This is what their brochure says:

"Avance Consulting offers Contractors an Early Payment Option on their invoices.Standard Industry Payment Terms for Contractors are 35 days net. With Avance Consulting contractors can opt to get their Invoices paid in 10 days at an attractive discount of 2% on theinvoice value. The Early Payment Option once activated runs for a minimum of 2 billing cycles before it can be turned off. There are no other hidden charges or Fixed Fees"

Notice how they phrase it "an attractive discount of 2% on theinvoice value"
