I'm asking because I have a fridge freezer thats half fridge and half freezer.
The freezer is fine but the fridge never seems big enough to cope with all our fruit/veg juice and stuff. I put soft fruit in the fridge otherwise it goes off really quickly. We also put most veg in the fridge again for the same reason. We are a family of 3 who goes thro' tonnes of fruit/veg and fruit juice.
We are thinking of getting a little separate fridge to increase our capacity - so ladies/gents .....
What size of fridge/freezer do you all use and do you think this is a wise move?????

Hi djtonyb,
I had a fairly good sized larder fridge in the kitchen and a chest freezer in the garage, but the fridge was always full to overflowing. A couple of years ago friends, who were getting a new kitchen, offered us their old fridge freezer as they had nowhere to put it. It's taken up residence in the garage with the chest freezer and has made an enormous difference to me....I can actually see what's at the back of the fridge now, so nothing ever gets forgotten about and wasted. The only downside is that I seem to spend half my life running in and out of the garage.
If you have the space for a second fridge then I would say get one. It may be worth trying freecycle if it's going to be tucked away somewhere.

hi i have a tall larder fridge (size of fridge freezer) and a freezer same size, but really need bigger in both
note to self must stop buying too much food lol0 -
I have a seperate fridge (with a bloomin' ice box. It's useless and it just takes up valuable fridge space. But it's rented and it came with the flat, so hey ho. When I get my own, I will buy a normal sized fridge and that should do.
I also have a chest freezer and my reduced purchases have started to take over some space in my freezer at work
I couldn't do without my chest freezer. Ex's dad advised us to go for a fridge freezer like them, but I couldn't imagine not having all my spaceBtw, they are not OS, about as far removed as possible!

I also have the same problem. Wish I had a bigger freezer.
Other thoughts are not to forget to take into account the environmental impact of having a 2nd fridge and also the fact that old fridges are not efficient. Fridges are one of the biggest users of electricty as they are on all the time.0 -
I've got just a small under counter 2 shelf/veggie drawer fridge and an under counter 3 shelf freezer indoors with a slightly (not much) larger 4 drawer freezer out in the workshop.
Am considering a larger freezer outside, but was hoping the old one would give out first0 -
Hi
I have a standard fridge/freezer i find i have enough space in my fridge ( just) but the freezer is another matter.
I also have a seperate 6ft freezer with pull out drawers and i couldn't live without it now. I can buy reduced stuff and know i've always got somewhere to put it. I can also batch cook and freeze which is good when i can't be bothered to cook.0 -

I have a tall freezer and a tall fridge/freezer but although its normal height its really wide and holds stacks more than a normal fridge
It's an LG,got it from currys and been so pleased with it I could never go back to a normal width one will try to find a pic to explain better..http://www.samstores.com/_images/products/WWH-WRTG18V6CCCCC.jpg this was the only one I could find like it,looks same drawerwise etc but mine is wider to give you some idea I can fit 3x6pints of milk next to each other on one shelf in the door + a carton

I've the same prob, a half and half fridge freezer which we've had since we were first married. Now plus 2 kids it's just not big enough, I got a small chest freezer a few years ago which helps but I need more fridge storage as we go through huge amounts of food and juice and big lemonade bottles won't fit in it at all( A personal bugbear of mine is lukewarm lemonade which all my aunties and uncles used to give me as a kid yeauuch) When I get my kitchen done up - next spring with any luck- I want a big double american style fridge, to hang with global warming- oops.Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0
