Hello,
Can anyone shed any light on whether ‘non traditional construction namely wilson hollow block which has been externally insulated and rendered’ has any effect on applying for a mortgage? I am struggling to find any info ln wilson hollow block online - unless im trying to buy it in bulk:mad:
Thanks

Hi OP, It sounds like you live in a similar place to me. I live in a place where the outside of the buildings (many owned by a housing association) have external insulation. It actually makes it very warm. A couple of the local houses are for sale. 3 bedrooms for £80,000 or less. Yet they have been on the market for some time. It's not a terrible area.
I'm actually seeing a mortgage advisor tomorrow so I might just ask.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -
Thanks for your reply. How did it go with your mortgage advisor?
I spoke with RBS and they lend on wilson hollow block but not wilson block so have a viewing of the property tonight.
The properties in this area tend to sell fast thats why I was shocked when I saw on the home report they were of non traditional build. But I suppose its fine for the now but whose to say in 5/10 years the lenders are going to lend on these leaving us stuck?!?0
