Well done the Welsh!

Good to see Right to Buy is looking to be abolished in Wales, hopefully England will follow suit. Of course the trolls will need new content to post threads about but overall it's great news IMO

When I saw your post title, I was wondering why on Earth you were posting about what I thought would be the Wales v Scotland match on this board.

Without getting into the rights and wrongs of RTB but given the fact that many if not the vast majority of people will remain in Social Housing for their entire adult lives how exactly does stopping the RTB scheme add to the number of Social Housing properties available to rent?.

The current scheme means that tenants discounts are capped to around £79k (yes I agree its a lot of money) but lets just say they can buy the house for £240k (full market value) less discount means they would pay £161k to buy the house. The proceeds of which goes towards building another property so for every RTB sold another property can be built and let to a family who needs it.

From the link : "The Welsh Government said it had set a target of creating 20,000 affordable homes during the current assembly term". How many times have we seen BS like this coming from Government?. For one thing they have trouble in actually defining "affordable"let alone actually building homes that we need.

But it doesn't, and hasn't. This has been evidenced many times over.

Nor do people consider the type of property which is being sold off.

My post was regarding the extended RTB for HA tenants which does in fact replace 1 for 1.

The existing RTB for Council tenants didn't replace 1 for 1 and was never designed too but that was down to the Government only allowing proceeds to be used to update existing stock rather than building replacements.

    My first reaction as well.:)

Particularly since the Welsh reserve team peed all over the much fancied Scotland team by a margin of 34-7.

Of course, the economic impact of this is uncertain. Although it is possible that the sales of Welsh replica shirts will increase. It is equally possible that alcohol sales in Scotland will rocket as the Scots seek to obliterate the memory of this disaster.
