PPI WITH BENEFICIAL (Hfc)
Options
Hi, has anyone had the same response as me when trying to reclaim PPI from Beneficial?
I sent the letter approx. a week ago (from the template on this site). Today I received their response which states ''following the application of this policy onto the account a welcome pack detailing the T & C's of the insurance policy was despatched, which confirmed that you should contact us within the initial 30-day "cooling off" period should you wish to decline the policy.
In conclusion we feel that PPI was added to your account in good faith. I must also respectfully advise that it remains the customers' responsibility to review their statement each month to ensure they can reconcile all transactions. In view of this I must decline your request for a full refund of all premiums charged."
Is the next step to take it to the FSA? or is what they are saying true?
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks,
Artlaw

Artlaw,
This is the classic fob off letter. Beneficial think that there are a group of customers who will go 'oh well' and drop it at this point.
If you genuinely think you were missold PPI then you need to contact them again and make sure it is dealt with as a formal complaint. Then, after a time delay you can involve the ombudsman service and FSA if you don't get the answer you want or think you are still being fobbed off.
Remember though that if you asked for PPI and weren't clearly missold it because of your personal situation, then you may not be entitled to a refund. This isn't like bank charges where they are potentially unlawful. If you have been sold the policy correctly you aren't entitled to a refund just because you feel ripped off.
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
