There's some really great ideas on here must try some with ds3,love the idea of the cookie cutter sandwiches and I second the jelly boats they are easy to do but look fab!! :D
  • Cocktail sausages always go down well - they'reon offer in our Tesco ATM £1 for 36 plus Tesco do mini pizzas in the frozen Xmas range - 30 for £1.50 - I often just offer these plus a few crisps and then some fairy buns or an icecream cone - 99p for 21 cones plus cheapie icecream. As Frogga has so wisely said - they never eat as much as you think.

  • Hi, for my daughters 4th birthday i did pizza but the children made them themselves. I used the packets that you add water to and made the dough before hand and then i gave them each a blob of it which they rolled out. I had grated cheese/sliced mozerella, and tomato pizza sauce - only 1 jar. I then did various toppings which they helped themselves to - and because parents stayed they each helped their own child to do it. It also meant the children were occupied for most of the time and a quick play and pass the parcel whilst the pizzas were cooking. I also did a few sandwiches and crisps and not much else oh and humous and breadsticks!

also when they arrived i had a big shortbread rolled out and they each chose a cutter and cut 2 biscuits. After the pizza they decorated the biscuits using melted choc and some fruit flakes and raisins and then had one to eat and one to take home! It wasn't very expensive as the entertainment/food was the same thing - i don't really want to get into magicians and that kind of thing!!!

it was a lot of fun, positive comments and my daughter wants to do it for her 5th birthday too!

  • no because the pizza mix was for 2 or 3 full sized pizzas and they just made small ones for themselves. and actually the adults picked on their own childs pizza too. so each pizza mix did 3 mini pizzas

i have made my jelly orange boat's. they are in fridge setting.

i am also making some sandwichs cut into little shape , jam or marmite, i've got grapes , strawberries, doing the marshmellows dipped in choc with smartie on , bowl of crisps , sausages on sticks , ritz crackers and sticks or cubes of cheese.

plus birthday cake. think that more than enough.

Now time for a cup of tea i think. going to do most bit's tongiht that i can. but not going to get stressed by it , just take it as it come's. and enjoy the day with my little girl.

Next year tho i'm gonna plan better and def go for the pizza idea. it perfect. considering tori and i do so much cooking together. so next year less children i think , but a more unique party.( provding my daughter ok with this, but she loves cooking so don't see why not)
