Cahoot loan PPI reclaim - they don't have the T&Cs!!

Options
Hi everyone,

This is my first post :)

Wondering if someone can help - I took out a loan with Cahoot in March 2003, only to discover in May of this year that I actually had PPI and I was unaware I was paying this. I thought it was odd that it was taking me ages and ages to make even a small dent in my loan!!

So a few weeks ago I wrote and asked them for the T&Cs from when I opened my account. They wrote back and said they didn't actually have them....!! And they'd keep my case open for a further 8 weeks if I wanted them to investigate it further.

What do I do now wrt reclaiming my PPI?? I'm also struggling to deduce if I'm eligable for a reclaim because it was all done on the internet, so I didn't speak to any sales people.

Has anyone tried to reclaim from Cahoot or have the same problem?

I've seen some other Cahoot threads and I'm not looking forward to dealing with them... :(

  • Eight weeks is the maximum time that a bank has to complete most complaints before you can take it further such as the Ombudsman.

You could try telling them that the whole loan balance is unenforceable unless they turn up with the T&C.

I really don't see how you can say that you did not know that you had PPI because the figure would have been in front of you when you signed the CCA.(Whether electronically or on paper is not relevent). Having signed up for it yourself I think you have no chance of getting total premium back just what is left now.
Might be more profitable for you to break a leg and claim on the insurance for a few months!!

I've just logged in to my account, been paying £30 for the last 6 years, thats over £2000, loan is only £3900.
Have phoned them cancelled PPI and asked for a copy of the agreement to be sent.
    Fingers crossed

  • Ok Jo, I'll let you know what happens. I think I'll ask them to investigate the loss of the t&cs further and also ask for a copy of my agreement.
