Business mileage

In April 2017 I left my job with organisation A and shortly afterwards joined organisation B, which I left in November 2017 (and am now working elsewhere).
I claimed for business mileage using a personal vehicle in both jobs and employer A provided an annual statement of miles covered and I made the mistake of assuming that this was something that all companies would provide - whereas I now realise it was just something that employer A provided to help employees claim mileage allowance relief where appropriate. I therefore didn't keep a record of my business miles for employer B - and hence, as it stands, I don't have a record of my business miles with employer B to use to claim MAR.
The most obvious solution is to simply ask employer B to confirm how many miles I claimed for during my time with them. However, if they decline to provide this detail, could I legitimately insist on them doing so...?
Any thoughts much appreciated!

Doubt it. Do you not have an idea of the business journeys made and can sit-down and use Google maps to calculate the mileage?0

Hmmm... good point and not one I'd thought of. There weren't actually that many as I tended to use trains quite a bit (and obviously just claimed the fares back on expenses) so I can probably create a good approximation...0

Did you get reimbursed for the business mileage from your employer? You would need to ensure you don't claim tax relief on any amounts actually reimbursed.0

I did - but only at £0.11 per mile so I'm entitled to relief on the difference between this and £0.45 per mile.0

Isn't it itemised on your payslips?0

Wont the reimbursements be on your pay packets, or shown as a credit in to your bank?0

I'm guessing that there may potentially have been more than just mileage on any credits to the bank, so if they weren't itemised on payslips the OP is a bit stuck.Wont the reimbursements be on your pay packets, or shown as a credit in to your bank?
If there weren't that many journeys, I'm not sure I'd lose much sleep over this but chalk it up to experience and keep a record of claims!
If any of my colleagues asked for a statement of mileage claimed it would be require someone to go through their actual claims (because they don't ONLY claim mileage), and I'd be suggesting that they should keep a copy before submitting.Signature removed for peace of mind0
