So currently work for Tescos night team and was emplyed in May 17 on a temporary contract which was made permenant in October contracted 2 nights a week however since being there since May have actually worked every week for 5 nights due to lack of team members .
I also have a day job for CPM a tactile company which pays by the hour and is no fixed times or jobs i take the contracts they pick up some weeks there are 12 to 15 hours a week other weeks 2 hours( however they do pay holiday pay)
So i have been signed off for the last 2 weeks with achilles tendonitis and cannot get hold of Tescos to see if i get sick pay and my other company has said send in my certificates and they will see if i am entitled (my line manager at cpm is currently on an extended holiday so i cant find out if i will be paid. So dont know if to apply for ssp from job the centre.
I have also rung Tesco payroll at my store however know one has answered i also rang head office and they wont comment said i need to talk to the store .
Does anyone know if i can claim sick pay from both jobs ? if not can i claim ssp and if so how ?
Thanks

You can only claim SSP once. It's a fixed benefit - if you qualify then the amount paid is fixed. Your earnings from both employments are added together to determine eligibility.0

I didn't think it was possible, but this suggests otherwise....

( I don't know if that link works..)
Statutory sick pay (SSP)/statutory maternity pay (SMP)
If you have more than one job, you may qualify for SSP and SMP in all of them provided you earn above the Lower Earnings Limit (LEL) for National Insurance contributions in each job and meet the other conditions.

As advised SSP may be paid for both jobs.
You must follow the rules for each job with regard to notifying and if required providing evidence that you are sick. It is then down to the employers to either operate SSP and make any payments that are due to you or to advise you that you do not qualify.0 -
SSP is based on average earnings for the 8 week period before illness. From the limited information provided I suspect it's unlikely that the OP would qualify for SSP from CPM.
It's much more likely that there will be an entitlement to SSP from the Tesco job if they have been working 5 nights a week for an extended period.
Although it's possible to receive SSP from more than one job according to the info provided by NYM, it is certainly not possible to claim ESA/UC if in receipt of SSP from any job.0 -

The employer now pays the SSP in all cases. If I remember correctly it began with the SSP being refunded, then the SSP and a bit extra for admin was refunded, then a scheme to refund only small businesses, then a scheme that refunded depending on NI payments made and finally no refunds for anyone.0 -

I think the question was about which employer would pay SSP when the OP had been told that they could receive SSP from only one.
But of course you are right regarding the progression of refund policy.0 -

.
That was answered earlier the OP might get SSP from both. I could not say for certain if it would be paid or not as do not have full details required. I did however advise the OP that they need to follow their employers' rules regarding notifying sickness and it is then the employers' duty to either pay SSP or advise them if SSP is not to be paid in post 6. My last post was in reply to a question from Takeaway_Addict and threw in a bit of history of SSP.0 -
I'm wondering how one would claim SSP from more than one employer? Where I work, we expect to receive the original fit note, rather than a photocopy - are we unusual in doing that? Goodness knows it's easy to doctor a photocopy ...Signature removed for peace of mind0
