Getting started OS again!

Options
Hi

I was wondering if anyone has any top tips for getting back into money saving and OS again after a 8 month break?!!

I've had to move house twice (takes to a landlord deciding they want their house back!), I've had members of my family in and out of hospital and the hourse for my new job have been fairly erratic the last couple of months :(

I've really fallen off the wagon, I haven't been bugeting, flyladying, looking after the few veggis that I was trying to grow, or being very careful with my spending. As a result I got a bit of a shock when I visited the bank and discovered I'd fallen quite a way back into my over draft.

Was hoping I might be able to get some help and inspiration from you all to get me back on track :)

Sign up to the November challenges and read through the stickies at the top of the OS forum. That is usually my starting place.

I have also made a list of freezer/fridge and cupboard contents and put together some meal plans.
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Tink1981 - 1. firstly id make a list of everything you have in the freezer, fridge and cupboards so you can either look at doing a store cupboard challenge or get involved with the grocery challenge. 2. Make a budget for things ie bills, food, rent etc - I also found it helpful (i use Mr T) to do a shop online first so i can plan better what i need to buy and how much to budget for this - also you can check how much your list will cost before you go and buy and adjust it accordingly to help you get better value for money this way too. 3. Also id make a meal plan for yourself if it is just you or a family (you didnt mention). 4. Look through your cleaning things and see what you have in stock and buy no more, use up what you have and when everything is gone buy a bottle of stardrops, some bicarb of soda and some soda crystals.5. Set a timer fo some sort (anything) for 15 mintues and tackle and cleanign in stages of an evening - ie youd be surprised in 15 mintues i can clean the bathroom , toilet and the hallway, then reward yourself by reading a mag for 15 minutes or havgin a nice cuppa etc. Then its only a matter of touching it up (pardon the expression) every so often 6. Make a note of what you spend again - i know its back to square one but it will help kick your OS system back into gear.7. Set this as your homepage! and visit the OS board regularly for more help!! adn more importantly DONT BE WORRIED TO ASK ADVICE OR HELP QUESTIONS

Read the daily thread - I find it extremely inspiring/motivating and reading about everyone else being busy certainly forces me to go and do something :)
We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment
