Hi

My partner and I are about to start our mortgage application in the next few days. My broker has told me that Halifax is currently the best deal he can get us. The thing is I bank with them. I have had some gambling transactions about 4 months ago but since I've had 3 full months of no such things. This was so I had 3 months clean bank statements. However since the mortgage might go through Halifax they will have my full account access. My question is how far back will they look into my account?

Thanks

We bank with lloyds and applied for our mortgage through them, they asked my permission just to look at my statements just to to confirm i was getting wages as my payslip was in my maiden name so i can't see halifax looking far back at gambling transactions without your permission.

Did you tell your broker about the transactions?
Tell them, they will want to get the mortgage through as much as you do. Best keep them in the loop so they can include it in their research.

Do they really need my permission to look at my account history even though I bank with them?

Surly it will just be normal procedure look at last 3 months?

Our loan is very affordable and I have very little outgoings.

I haven't mentioned to my broker yet. I was kind of I would say afraid but maybe embrassed! Lol

I did not think they would need permission, I know some other lenders do just check.

If it is a problem, then it needs to be addressed. If it just you spending spare money thats your money to spend and some lenders will just take that view.
