Won Gaucho cooker class but then another email say

I had an email earlier saying I had won a place on the Gaucho cooker class.

Hope you’re well!



Thanks so much for entering Foodism’s competition to win a place at the Gaucho Cookery School this Saturday. We are pleased to tell you that you have won a space!



Make your way to Gaucho O2 where the Cookery School will take place from 12:30-15:30.

Please could you RSVP confirming your attendance ASAP, as spaces are limited and they will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. If you do not receive a confirmation email from us, your space has been taken.


I have just had another email saying:

Hello again,



I’m afraid all spaces have now been filled.



Thanks so much again for your interest and sincere apologies you missed out this time. As mentioned in the previous email, no places were confirmed without a follow up email.



We appreciate your support for Gaucho and do keep an eye out for future competitions.

I got it too - replied with in five minutes and didn't get a space! Not happy nearly booked trained to LDN!

I'd be complaining to the ASA if that happened to me, there's at least 2 rules they've broken, very unfair to disappoint people like that. Hope y'all win something nice in the near future to make up for it.

That's a real shame. I wonder if they literally emailed everyone who entered, telling them they'd won, and then just filled the spaces with the first X amount of people to reply. That's a pretty !!!!py way to run a competition if so. Worth a complaint?

Yes, me too. Replied 1 hour 5 minutes after their first email and got nothing.

Have now received a second email from managing director as an apology saying it's all the PR company fault and nothing to do with Gaucho or Foodism.

Making matters worse, however, she says that she is sorry that people "understood" that they had won a prize when they hadn't. Maybe that's because people were told "you have won a space" on the cookery course.

Loquax competition forum is also full of people in this position. I may make a complaint about this if only to discover how many people they duped.
