Upcoming Asda bargains...
Hello!
As you may have noticed, the main supermarket chains are moving stock around a little at this time of year.
This generally happens twice a year on each aisle (based on the company I work for anyway - Asda, and I've seen it in Sainsburys and Tesco), generally this is a 'ready for winter/summer' move around, and can go on for two-three months as the store changes weekly, section-by-section.
The 'ready for summer' changes are rolling out now, and can mean massive bargains if you keep your eyes open.
Last week for example, we took out & reduced a lot of 'air-care' lines (sprays, candles etc). Often these are Christmas lines, but it can easily include things such as
-slow selling lines
-old pack sizes (often larger!)
These lines will usually already have been reduced in-run, but when taken out of circulation will get another reduction on the ticket, rather than a yellow label.
Usually these will be segregated off to a reduced section, or a side-unit at the rear of the store.
When's the best time to shop these items?
It depends, but generally you should look in the morning between 8.30-9.30am, when the price change team will have had time to work through their price updates.
Quite often these big changes are planned for a Sunday, so your best day would be a Monday, if you're passing. It can happen on other days, but the early-ish morning window is a fairly sure thing for general price decreases anyway.
Upcoming changes are cereals and pop, I think crisps may soon change too.
BE WARY of dates however. Grocery items like tins, flour, crisps etc have very long shelf-lives, but if they're being discontinued for low sales, they may have been on that shelf a VERY long time!
Past bargains I've had include 6 packs of Branston Beans for £1, 6 Yankee Candles for £1.25 and 750g Kellogs Raisin Wheats for 75p (this week!).
I hope this helps your bargaining, any questions, feel free to ask
