Advice: Remortgage and adding husband to deeds

In September 2016 my husband and I sold our house. The new house I could only get the mortgage by myself due to my husband having just gone self employed. He signed away his half of the equity in our previous house to help pay the deposit on the new house. So our house is only in my name. Our fixed deal comes to an end this September and I am starting to think about our options. My situation has now changed as I only work part time now so wage is a lot lower and we have a new baby. My husband has submitted two years of tax and could get his accountant to do this years before September. How easy is it to change the deeds to include my husband whilst remortgaging to release equity for home improvements. I don’t even know where to start.

Pretty easy. You would just complete the remortgage as a joint application, and the solicitors would pick up the legal side of things through a 'transfer of equity' process.I am a Mortgage Broker.

We have just done exactly that and also purchased the freehold in joint names. The lender who was remortgaging insisted that they put the charge against the lease and the freehold however we couldn't register the freehold until the old lender had been paid even though the land registry assisted us by issuing a title number so they could put the charge on it whilst waiting for it to be registered.0
