Paraplanning learning resources

Hi all,

I want to pursue a career in financial planning, and ideally start as a paraplanner. I have a business degree but no direct experience in financial planning. However, I have held general business advisor roles which I hope will help me transition into a financial advisor one day.
I'm applying for jobs but I'd like to start learning about the industry, products, regs etc.
I was wondering if someone can point me in the right direction where I can find some resources and start studying for free :)

Thanks

  • You would be worth looking for Admin roles within an IFA, you can then do the CII Paraplanning exam as a start although Level 4 is becoming the standard for Paraplanners.

Although admin may be boring or not what you are looking for, if you are good enough its a foot on the ladder.

I started in admin 20 years ago and I am now an adviser having gone through the paraplanning route.

    All the best

Thanks for your response. I also would like to take the same route. It just seems the most logical way of getting into the industry and I have been applying for paraplanner assistant/admin roles so hopefully get a response.

With regards to qualifications, I'm hoping to go straight to the level 4 diploma, or maybe that's me being a little naive :S I'm aiming to start the course as soon as I secure a position.

However, I'd really like to build some basic knowledge before going to interviews and starting an entry-level position. I think it'll make things a lot easier in the transition. I was wondering if there are any good resources online which will help me learn the basics of financial planning, types of products etc. :)
