Hi Everyone.
I have received a HMRC letter stating I am due a tax refund. After 4 weeks no cheque in the post so I phoned HMRC and they said its been paid to this company called
"Online tax rebates ltd" website "healthcareworkertaxrebate.co.uk" based in Birmingham.
I remembered that I have filled in some uniform claim forms from this company but didn't realise what I have entered into until I read the small prints. What worries me is their very high charge of 28% plus VAT on all tax refunded.
Has anyone have any similar experiences ? And how do I get off their book ?
Any additional info and advice will be much appreciated.
Many Thanks

Well immediately write to HMRC and say that that company is no longer your agent.0 -
You signed an agreement to pay them 28 percent, probably plus vat.
Tell them you want the balance, only then will they be off your back.
Lesson.
Read all terms and conditions fully before you sign anythingmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I telephoned HRMC and they said I have signed paperwork to state that they are representing me so they cant help me. They have sent my cheque to the company but no acknowledgement or news from them. Surely a government department should protect vulnerable tax-payers. These kind of companies should be banned :C0

How are you "vulnerable"? Surely you need to take some personal responsibility for signing up with the company and agreeing to their terms. It's nobody else's fault you didn't read those terms and understand the implications before you signed.0 -
Yes, thanks for your kind words0

I see there!!!8217;s a small chance you could actually end up out of pocket!
Martin strongly recommends against using companies like this.0
