Advice needed

I have been unhappy in my job for some time. Today I was unwell and called in sick. I have now decided to hand my notice in. I am required to work 4 weeks notice however I am still ill and unsure if I should email in my resignation first or provide the fit note from GP. Please advise as I am stressed over this. Thank you

Put the fit note in and think on it. Even if you think of it as paid time to think away from the office or stresses of the job, you do have the note for a reason.
Unless you are use to temping and landing up in places that maybe allien don't do anything rash - it's kind of hard out there unless you pick up the interview for 2 months temporary in an Insurance call centre kind of thing as it's like round here, had a mate who was so glad she didn't call in sick last week to current job to get to two interviews, she'd have been more upset as she got neither. She's pretty crazy if the truth were known as she's never had it so good but some of the things she went through were something else and it all ultimately becomes explainable, she'd hate for you to be left with no options and feeling worse.0 -
I would suggest that you resign and provide the fit note at the same time. Explain that you are not well enough to be at work currently but will return to work as soon as you are fit, to work your notice. Just provide additional fit notes to your employer if your illness does not resolve before your notice expires. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

I have been thinking this over for months and have made my decision to resign and email letter is drafted. I just wasn’t sure how to approach as I can’t give fit note until Monday and cannot go into office as physically/mentally making me unwell at the thought0

Check your company's sickness absence policy/procedures.
You don't get a free fit note from your GP until you have had a week off work. You need to self-certify first.0 -
Yes I have self certified and will obtain fit note after 7 days.0
